A different kind of brand.
Bagad Billa is a production studio for art films and box-office movies. The choice of content is going to be somewhat different and edgy. And hence the unique name. As the name suggests, Bagad Billa is the manifestation of a fierce, brute and cold-blooded cat. All are in-human values that we don’t want to see in a brand. Brands are supposed to be warm, caring, and understanding. So, how do we build such a paradoxical brand?
The Logo Design: Fierce, Rough, Edgy.
The name Bagad Billa and its Personality are quite unique. We feel that this category is rather homogenised and thus the logo had to be eye-catching, creative and playful. We shaped this new, indie brand in a way that has very high recall. Once you look at the logo, the brain holds onto it. That’s how we make the invisible visible and—ultimately—shape up a strong brand.
The cat-scratch elements in the logo and the rugged, broken wood texture of the word mark bring out the intensity. It’s as if the wild cat has its own way of doing things. And is not following the status quo.
Since the logo is going to be used on varied backgrounds and surfaces, it needed to be adaptable. And thus it was made as a dynamic logo and identity, that changes its colour as per the application. The distinct colour palette was designed to catch people’s eye and never be missed. The palette could adapt as per the genre of movie or the theme of the film poster.
The identity is a beautiful prodigy of Yellow Fishes. It shows how we work to simplify things. And yet build beautiful brands.
